Day 1: Marrakech to Merzouga's Desert Gateway
Our journey commences as we depart vibrant Marrakech, venturing through the captivating landscapes of the High Atlas Mountains. The route takes us over the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass, treating us to panoramic views of Berber villages nestled against the rugged terrain. Our first highlight is the UNESCO-listed Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a historical gem that transports us to ancient times. As we traverse the enchanting Valley of Roses, we eventually reach the stunning Dades Gorges, where nature’s grandeur comes alive in dramatic rock formations. Our day concludes with a restful night in a guesthouse, surrounded by the serene ambiance of the gorge.
Day 2: Merzouga's Sands to Marrakech's Vibrance
With the rising sun, we continue our journey, passing through the charming town of Tinghir and exploring the awe-inspiring Todgha Gorges. The imposing cliffs create a breathtaking backdrop as we immerse ourselves in this natural wonder. Our path then leads us to Erfoud, known for its fossil treasures, before we arrive in the mesmerizing Merzouga. Here, our desert adventure unfolds as we trade our vehicle for camels and embark on a camel trek into the heart of the iconic Erg Chebbi dunes. The sight of the sun setting over the dunes is a moment to cherish. After a night of desert magic in a traditional camp, we begin our return journey to Marrakech, reflecting on the captivating experiences and memories created along the way.
